Happy New Year's Eve!
Be safe, be sparkly & have fun with your resolutions.
(Heck, one of my resolutions for 2011 was to meet Leighton Meester & I did).
Dreams are possible. And by dreams, I mean resolutions.
But really, have a great day & don't overanalyze it.
NYE is kinda dumb.

Kourtney Kardashian

Having never been pregnant (Thank the dear Lord.) and only witnessing pregnant women and their pregnant fashion choices, I've noticed one thing. They don't normally dress well. I've heard it's really uncomfortable and such, but I believe that if you are feeling crappy or having a bad day, wear something really cute, something that makes you feel good, because chances are you'll feel just a little better. I know what you're wondering, "Where is Erin going with this?" Well, I'll tell you... Kourtney Kardashian is the cutest pregnant woman in Hollywood right now. I mean, I would wear this outfit in a heartbeat. So, a round of applause to you, Kourtney.

A Year in Fashion: 2011

The ever-so-wonderful, Women's Wear Daily (WWD), compiled a list of the top Fashion Moments of 2011 and I'm here to select my favorites and/or the ones I deem worthy of being documented on this blog forever. I also added some of my own highlights because they missed some very important ones.
January
Michelle Obama, with President Obama and President Hu Jintao, in the infamous Alexander McQueen dress.
January 5: Karl Lagerfeld taps Blake Lively as the face for Chanel's Mademoiselle bag.
January 11: Rachel Zoe launches her fashion line and reveals to WWD that she's having a baby boy. (One of my favorite moments in 2011, if we're being completely honest).
January 12: Sears signs on to do another line with the Kardashian trio, dubbed The Kardashian Kollection.
January 19: The new creative director of Thierry Mugler, Nicola Formichetti, enlists Lady Gaga as musical director of his first men's show. (I mean, whatever. But it's still kind of interesting).
January 25: Oscar de la Renta sees red, expressing his disappointment in Michelle Obama's choice to wear a British designer - McQueen - to a state dinner. (With all due respect to Mr. de la Renta, I loved the Alexander McQueen gown Michelle Obama wore that night).
February
Christopher Kane
February 2: Christopher Kane wins the British Fashion Council/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund prize for 2011.
February 8: Ralph Lauren introduces a luxury denim collection that includes a denim tuxedo and a jumpsuit. (Two of my LEAST favorite fashion pieces in the world).
February 11: Lindsay Lohan's leggings line, 6126, is being dropped by stores in the wake of continuing controversies surrounding the troubled actress. (Not exactly noteworthy, but 2011 was definitely interesting in the ever disappointing fall of Lindsay Lohan).
February 17: Michael Kors celebrates his 30th anniversary with a disco diva collection.
February 17: Derek Lam reveals his first crowdsourced collection, done in collaboration with eBay.
February 23: Gucci marks its 90th anniversary.

April
Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge
April 28: (My birthday, just saying). Christian Dior stages a retrospective exhibit of its 64 years in Moscow at the Pushkin Museum.
April 29: At last - the big royal wedding day arrives and the world learns that Kate Middleton's dress is designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen.
May
"Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty" Exhibit
May 2: The Met's Costume Institute honors the late Alexander McQueen at the annual gala. The exhibition, "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty," would open May 4 as the biggest opening day ever for the Institute, and the entire museum's second biggest after 2005's "Vincent van Gogh: The Drawings." The exhibition becomes such a success that the museum keeps it open for an extra week. In total, the exhibit attracted 661,509 people, ranking it as the museum's eighth most popular show ever. (I am forever upset that I could not attend).
May 4: Lanvin says it will roll out a children's collection - one with a "superluxurious approach," of course, according to executive vice president Thierry Andretta.

June 1: In Paris, Dior unveils its first cruise collection in the post-Galliano era, created by the Dior design studio.
June 10: Tory Burch LLC scores a designer victory against online counterfeiters - to the tune of $164 million in damages - from hundreds of operators of Web sites selling fake Tory Burch Reva ballet flats and other footwear, handbags and accessories. While Burch has almost no chance of getting money from the sites, the award is believed to be the largest sum of damages ever issued to a fashion firm in the ongoing battle against online counterfeiters.
June 22: Donatella Versace is the latest designer to link with H&M for a collaboration. The collection will launch in November and be based on heritage Versace designs, particularly the Miami print made famous by her late brother, Gianni.

September 13: Rachel Zoe shows her first collection during New York Fashion Week.

December 29: Brad Goreski is named Kate Spade New York's exclusive brand stylist. (Okay, I added this one too, but I thought it was newsworthy, for sure).

Vanessa Hudgens

I apologize in advance for the crappy paparazzi pictures, but what are you going to do, eh? My favorite celebrity (Oh, sarcasm, I love you.) was in Miami today with her boyfriend, Austin Butler, (Are we supposed to know who that is?) prancing around in a HEINOUS outfit. Not only is her bathing suit ugly, which is quite rare considering bathing suits are usually just band-aid sized coverups, but she decided to cover the heinous bathing suit up with, get this... Overalls. I mean. C'mon Vanessa. This is exactly what landed you on my worst dressed of 2011 list. Make better choices in 2012, okay?

Teen Vogue February 2012

Elle Fanning is actually the cutest human being living today. With the obvious exception of Leighton Meester, of course. She's just so darling and poised. It's quite easy to forget that she's 13 years old. When I was 13, I did not look as cute as this. I had glasses, I had braces, I had a horrible haircut, I don't think I had ever met a pair of Tweezers and I think that's the year I decided to continue shopping at Limited Too. So, the fact that Elle Fanning is prancing around the pages of Teen Vogue has left me quite envious. But it's impossible to hate her when she's this precious. She graces the cover of Teen Vogue's February issue and I'm in love with it. I think Teen Vogue's February issues (and covers) are always their best and to be honest, I'm confused as to why Elle Fanning is just now getting her own cover. C'est la vie.
Despite the fact that I'm pretty sure they over-edited her face (AGAIN) she still looks darling. I mean, look at that hair. It's gorgeous.
This is my favorite. I love everything about it, from the headband down to the Bebe top. I know, right? Bebe.
I'm telling you, her hair is fantastic. She needs a contract with Pantene or Garnier Fructis or something like, yesterday.

Facebook

What's that? You're not a fan of this blog on Facebook? Well now, that's just embarrassing. For you, not me, obviously. Get on that. Then flaunt it because I am a fame whore apparently.

Cosmopolitan Australia January 2012

NO. This is not a great "welcome back to the blog" present. Gisele Bundchen graces the cover of Cosmopolitan Australia's January issue which is whatever, all fine and dandy, but the cover shot looks awfully familiar. OH WAIT. That's because it's straight from her cover shot for Vogue's April 2010 issue. I mean, really. It bothers me when this happens for like, an ELLE shoot and then an ELLE UK shoot, but that's understandable because it's the same magazine family. This? This is unbelievable. I mean, to go from Vogue straight to Cosmopolitan Australia? No. And also, this is horribly photoshopped and horribly reversed and the rest of the photos in the shoot look like they came straight from the pages of a Victoria's Secret catalog. So, to sum this up, I hate it. I hate everything about it. I don't care if they can't afford their own photoshoot, at least pick outtakes. You know?
I mean... Really.

Thank you for making me feel like my words have some meaning. Even if they are mostly judging people's unfortunate fashion mishaps, I thank you for laughing & judging along with me.

Best & Worst Dressed of 2011

Yippee! This took a lot of research, my sweet friends, but here it goes. Best Dressed: Kate Middleton, Emma Stone, Mila Kunis, Jessica Chastain, Leighton Meester. Worst Dressed: Serena van der Woodsen, Vanessa Hudgens, Sarah Jessica Parker, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Kidman.
Best:
Of course Kate Middleton has topped my list. She is so elegant, I adore it. I adore her and her fashion choices. I truly look forward to what she will be wearing in 2012.
Emma Stone (My second girl crush next to Leighton Meester, obviously.) has been absolutely breathtaking this year. Oh my gracious. Honestly. This Lanvin gown will forever have my heart.
Thanks to "Black Swan" and it's ridiculous award wins and nominations earlier this year, Mila Kunis was everywhere and she looked gorgeous whilst doing so.
My favorite newcomer and girl crush, Jessica Chastian, has stolen my heart with her red carpet outfits. I am obsessed. And considering the fact that she is already being nominated for big award shows (Can I get an amen?) that means we can all look forward to more gorgeous gowns.
It's cute that you are surprised by this. Leighton Meester, Duchess of my Heart, has become even MORE flawless in 2011. I love her a ridiculous amount. RIDICULOUS.
Worst:
While I realize Serena van der Woodsen is not a "real" person per say, I need to talk about the heinousness that has been Season 5 Serena van der Woodsen. She has been HORRIBLY dressed. Honestly. It's like she was dressed in the dark. I mean, separately she has been wearing cute pieces of apparel, but as an outfit, it's just been a hot mess. And don't even get me started on the accessories.
I think Vanessa Hudgens' bad outfits of 2011 began with her heinous haircut. And by "I think..." I mean "I'm right..."
I know it's rare for Sarah Jessica Parker to be on a worst dressed list, but she has been off her game this year. Maybe it's the pressure of having 3 kids or maybe she fired her stylist or maybe she's a little crazy. But either way, this is just not good and I am going to need her to step it up next year.
I mean. Okay, this isn't her WORST outfit (Although I hate matching gloves) but I mean... Lady Gaga. I don't even know.
Jennifer "I Dress Too Young For My Age" Lopez. Enough said. I don't know what to do with her.
Oh Nicole Kidman. I feel sorry for her honestly. I always forget about her and question as to why she is at an event. This was back in June and this is one of the worst outfits she wore all year.

Harper's Bazaar Russia January 2012

Oh I am loving this right now. Kate Beckinsale graces the cover of Harper's Bazaar Russia's January issue and I really love it. I love the simplicity of the setting and the styling, from her hair to her makeup to the clothes themselves. This is quite refreshing considering we've had some downers so far. I'm definitely talking to you, Vogue.
I love this. Foreign magazine covers are almost 98.3% better than American magazine covers. 98.3%, my friends. Also, she kind of looks like Jennifer Garner here if you look quickly. I don't know. Do with that what you will. I always think someone looks like someone else. It's a strange habit, my sister hates it.
This is my favorite. SO glamourous.
This outfit is horrible.
