Chanel Spring 2012 RTW

Ever since I had my first glimpse of the official Chanel invitation for Paris Fashion Week, I have been imagining what Karl Lagerfeld could've dreamt up for the Chanel Spring 2012 ready-to-wear collection. My predictions were quite accurate, although he magnified my imagination and took even more inspiration from the "magical underwater world" than I had envisioned. As always, Lagerfeld created an entire experience, drawing the crowd in. In the past, he has imported icebergs and even gold statues of lions in the middle of the runway, but this time the Grand Palais was "transformed by huge, blinding white sea shapes - corals, shells, sea horses and stingrays..." Amazing. I love when you can see exactly where the designer got his/her inspiration. I love when they can take you inside their initial mindset and show you why they fell in love with, in this instance, underwater colors, shapes and textures. Karl Lagerfeld managed to do all of that while still staying true to the classic Chanel style but updating it. Not only did he show inspiration AND re-invent himself for the hundredth time, but oh, he also created 84 looks, so... Oh, but my only complaint is the shoes. They are ugly. They look like they were stolen off the set of Zenon.
See? Can't you totally envision what the collection will look like even before you start looking at the pieces? Perfection.
Florence Welch performed too. She decided to bring along some pretty hair, which I think, was a very wise choice.
My favorite look. Hands down. I wish you could see it walk on the runway, actually if you go to Style.com, you can. It's incredibly swift and delicate. I love the fit and the silhouette. I kind of just love every single thing about this.
I hate that I don't hate this.
I hate that I don't hate the jacket. It's like the inside of a seashell which I am sure is exactly what Karl wanted you to think of.
A modern twist on the classic Chanel suit. Two thumbs way up.
LOVE. It's like a jellyfish.
I feel like Ariel, from "The Little Mermaid" obviously, would've worn this dress had she a) Money b) Legs c) Access to Chanel.
This is also one of my favorites. It's so pretty!
This is my second favorite look. It's SO delicate and interesting.
